Biblical Spiritual Disciplines for Real PeoplePart 2This is the second part of the popular conference on personal spiritual disciplines that Don has held in local churches across America. In this conference, he reviews and summarizes the teaching from Part 1 on the foundational disciplines of prayer and meditation on Scripture. Then he leads the attendees on a study of the biblical basis and benefits of such disciplines as silence and solitude, fasting, and journaling. It is not necessary to have attended Part 1 to attend this conference.
The CFBS National Conference is 7:00 Friday night (eastern time) through 3:15 Saturday afternoonOctober 10-11, 2008at the Legacy Center on the beautiful campus of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. This conference is for adults and teenagers. Children who register are also welcome, though no childcare will be provided. (Registration is not required for infants.) All Christianssingles, couples, pastors, staff, church leaders, etc.can profit from this conference. So bring a group! Space is limited, so register early.
Registration is $75 per person. It includes two days of teaching, conference materials, refreshment breaks, and two hot, delicious meals-breakfast and lunch on Saturday. A special rate of $65 is available for full-time students and spouses. Hotel AccommodationsThe Legacy Center at Southern Seminary will provide overnight accommodations for the conference. When you register for the conference and choose the option for lodging at the Legacy Center, you will be given a special ID number to secure the reduced conference rate of $70 per night plus tax. All rooms will be at the same $70 rate, though suites will be provided at no extra charge to those who register first. Once these are taken, standard rooms will be assigned. Suites have one bedroom with either a queen or king size bed, along with a living area that has a pull-out sofa bed and a maximum room occupancy of 4. All rooms are furnished with a refrigerator, coffee maker, cable television, and complimentary wireless internet.
The conference site, meals, and housing are all within steps of each other. Also available is the great Southern Seminary bookstore, the Founders Café, and the lovely, landscaped grounds of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Come early on Friday and tour the seminary or Boyce College (especially if you are or have a prospective student), or see the nearby Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory, the incomparable Frazier International [mainly military and arms] History Museum, or one of the other Louisville area attractions.
So join us as the beeches, tulip poplars, and maples display the glorious colors of autumn on the historic grounds of one of the world's largest and most beautiful seminaries. Come rest, eat well, enjoy good fellowship and teaching, and be spiritually refreshed at a conference that will help you practice the simple, biblical means God has given to every Christian for pursuing intimacy with and conformity to Christ.
